Break a task into sub-tasks
A sub-task is a smaller task inside a task. It has its own status, assignee and due date, and the task shows how many are done.

Add a sub-task
Open a task, or the New task form, and find Sub-tasks. Type the step into Add sub-task and press Enter. The header counts them, for example 0 of 1 done.
Fill in the details
Each sub-task has its own status circle, label, priority, assignee and due date. Rename it in place, or choose Open sub-task to see it as a task of its own.
Finish a sub-task
Choose the sub-task's status circle and pick Done. Its title is struck through, and the header counts it, for example 1 of 1 done.
Remove a sub-task
Choose More for sub-task, then Remove from parent to turn it into a task of its own, or Delete sub-task to delete it.
Tasks and their sub-tasks
When you set a task to Done, its open sub-tasks become Done too. Set the task back to an open status and the ones it closed are reopened. Finishing every sub-task does not close the task: you still set the task itself to Done.
